FAQs
What annual costs do I have to pay?
Pitch fees - These are inclusive of winter storage and payable in advance. Pitch fees are reviewed annually and notified to customers in December of each year for the following season. You can choose to pay in one of three ways; either in one lump sum at the basic invoice price, 4 monthly instalments or you can spread the cost on a direct debit scheme from your bank account over 10 months.
Can I choose the location of my holiday home?
Yes, you can have a choice of any available location on the Park.
Can I move my holiday home to another pitch or park?
Yes, you can, but all moves are subject to the Park Managers discretion and a charge will be made for the cost of transportation and connection. Having said that, in our experience people rarely move, there is a sense of community in each area of the Park and people are usually reluctant to move away from newfound friends.
Is buying a holiday home a good investment?
A holiday home at a John Fowler Holiday Park really is a fantastic investment in your leisure time. It provides an enjoyable leisure lifestyle. We do offer programmes as subletting that can help offset the running costs, but holiday homeownership should not be viewed as an investment for the purpose of yielding an income. It is a great investment in your leisure lifestyle!
Do I own the land?
No, providing you pay the pitch fees and adhere to the park rules you are buying a holiday home along with the right to occupy a pitch on the Park. But you are not purchasing the land.
Can I live in my Holiday Home?
No, this is not possible because John Fowler Holiday Parks operate Holiday Parks, not Residential Parks. Your main residence must be away from the Park.
Can I afford it?
Obviously we’re not aware of your personal situation, however we do know that our huge range of both new and pre owned holiday homes, together with our competitive finance plans and affordable monthly payments* means that almost everyone we meet can choose the Holiday Home which is right for them. There are some running costs to consider. However when you are not personally using your holiday home, our subletting service can provide you with a valuable income to help you with these fees.

Other than pitch fees, what other expenses should I expect to pay?
Rates – General, water and sewerage
The charge for rates is based upon average rateable value of each holiday home and the charges levied by the local water authority, rates are billed to owners April/May.
Electricity – meter supply
Electricity is supplied to the holiday home by a meter and the availability charge and the electrical units consumed are then charged at the price paid to the electricity provider by the park. Electricity charges are billed in November.
Gas - Bottled Gas
Is available for purchase, and the price includes delivery and connection. Current prices are available at the Park Office. Bottled gas will be billed periodically in arrears.
Gas - Piped Gas
Will be charged at an amount per litre similar to a domestic dwelling and will be based upon meter readings and will be billed in November.
Insurance
All owners must be adequately covered by a suitable insurance policy. Most owners choose our recommended scheme as it is specifically designed for holiday homeowners. You are, however, free to choose your own insurer provided that the cover meets specified criteria and that we are issued with a copy of the policy document.
